Computers and Life … Sherry Turkle
In 1984, Sherry Turkle (MIT faculty) wrote a book (The Second Self) that explored the relationship between computers and individuals. That book is still close by in my set of bookshelves. Turkle, (who earned a joint doctorate in sociology and psychology from Harvard) has written a new book that continues her observations from her research at MIT.
This latest study (‘Alone Together’) continues her work as techology has continued its developmental path. Turkles states that “…It is easy to become so immersed in technology that we ignore what we know about life…”
